BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit Course — 16-hour, two-day certification (Sept 3 & 5) required for California armed security guards. This is a 16-hour, two-day BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit course — the required certification for California armed security guards seeking their initial Firearm Permit. $400. You must hold a current BSIS Guard Registration Card prior to enrolling in this course.
Day 1 (Friday Sept 4, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM): 8 hours of classroom instruction covering the BSIS Firearms Training Manual — use of deadly force, de-escalation, and California law. Written exam at end of day; minimum score 45/52 (86%) required. Students who do not pass may retake the exam once.
