We provide the highest quality instruction for Bay Area security professionals and constantly refine our methods/materials improve your learning experience. By joining us, you will have access to Paladin Tactical U.S. which provides exceptional firearms and tactical instruction for law enforcement, security teams, and CCW holders.
Classes are usually held at the United Sportsmen Range in Concord. For the initial BSIS Exposed Firearms Permit class, we will have one day (8 hours) in the classroom and then one day (8 hours) on the range. For the BSIS re-qualification courses, we will have two hours in the classroom before spending an hour on the range.
We offer the initial Exposed Firearms Permit class quarterly and the re-qualification session monthly.
Class fees are nonrefundable; however, funds may be transferred to a different class if the request is made five (5) calendar days prior to the original class date.
Classes rescheduled due to acts of God, including extreme weather or range closures outside of Paladin Shield's control will be rescheduled in place of a refund. Changes in class location or class schedule will be communicated by the email address and phone number you provide.
If a class is rescheduled due to a low number of signups, we will ask that you move to another class date. You will receive a full refund if we can't accommodate you with an alternate date.
Follow the steps below:
Complete an 8-hour Power to Arrest Course, submit your initial guard application to BSIS, and supply fingerprints upon their request
BSIS will issue you a Guard Registration Card (remember to take the remaining 32 hours of required training within 6 months of registration)
Complete a 2-day Exposed Firearms Permit (EFP) Course, passing the written exam and live-fire qualification
Complete the Firearms Assessment (personality test)
Submit your EFP Initial Application to BSIS along with your EFP course certificate, and supply a set of fingerprints upon their request
BSIS will issue your EFP permit
If you want to renew your EFP in two years, remember to complete a Requalification Course every 6-months.
Complete an additional 8-hours of continuing training annually to maintain your Guard Registration Card.
